Buying a home on the Costa Brava
Looking for a home on the Costa Brava? I help you structure the search, weigh the alternatives and find options that genuinely suit you — resale or new build.
Before you search
The Costa Brava isn’t one single search.
Looking for a year-round home is not the same as looking for a holiday home, and being close to the sea doesn’t weigh the same as privacy, access, upkeep or orientation.
Before we start viewing properties, I’d rather work out with you what you really need and what you can be flexible on.
What we can look for
Different searches, the same judgement.
- 01
Main home
Living there all year: services, access, schools and life out of season.
- 02
Second home
Use, upkeep, travel and what the quiet months feel like.
- 03
Apartments
Building, floor, orientation, terrace and surroundings.
- 04
Houses
Plot, privacy, condition, upkeep and access by car or on foot.
- 05
New builds
Project, plans, specifications, timings and handover terms.
- 06
Resale
Actual condition, possible works, paperwork and how it lives today.
- 07
Sea views
Where you see it from, how it lives and what might change around it.
This isn’t a list of available stock — it’s the kind of search I can run with you.

Areas
Choosing the area is part of the decision.
Along the Costa Brava, towns and even neighbourhoods differ a great deal: access, services, seasonality, type of housing, relationship with the sea, privacy and year-round life.
The search doesn’t start with a house; it starts with understanding which place best fits the way you’ll use it.
From the Alt Empordà — Roses, Cadaqués — to the Baix Empordà — Begur, Palafrugell, Calella, Llafranc, Platja d’Aro, S’Agaró or Sant Feliu de Guíxols — each stretch of the Girona coast suits a different way of living by the sea.
Sea-view homes
This is where I’m focusing my work.
I don’t just check whether there is a view, but where you enjoy it from, how it connects with indoor and outdoor spaces, privacy, orientation, surroundings — and how all of that fits the price and the way you’ll use the home.

Resale and new build
I work with both.
A resale home can be judged as it stands and as it’s lived in today.
With a new build, plans, orientation, future layout, shared areas, handover and project details all come into play.
Comparing the two widens the search and avoids treating two connected markets as separate worlds.
I don’t limit the search to one portal.
I work across the advertised market and also collaborate with agents, agencies, developers and owners when they can bring an option that genuinely fits.
My job isn’t to show you more homes, but to help you find better ones and compare them properly.
Who you’ll work with
I’m Xavier Domènech, an independent property advisor.
I work with sea-view homes on the Catalan coast, where landscape, light and architecture are part of the value. You’ll deal with me directly from the very first conversation.
I take on few clients at a time and work with other professionals when a search calls for it. So you don’t depend on what shows up on a single portal: we clarify what you need, weigh up alternatives and compare with judgement.
How we start
- 1
You tell me what you’re looking for.
Type of home, approximate budget, the areas you like and how you plan to use it.
- 2
We set the priorities.
We pin down what’s essential, what’s negotiable and which areas or alternatives are worth considering.
- 3
We work out how to move forward.
Together we look at the search options and how I can help you find and compare homes.
Tell me what home you’re looking for on the Costa Brava
Tell me in a few lines what you’re looking for. I’ll reply personally; the first conversation comes with no cost and no commitment.
